Moving to France

Moving to France

A warm welcome for expat families

Every year, Ecole Jeannine Manuel welcomes many expat families or French families returning from abroad. We make a special effort to make these families feel welcome and to help them in what can be a difficult transition, even if they are in France for only a short amount of time.

Adaptation program

Our adaptation program welcomes over a hundred non-French-speaking students from all over the world. Many speak little to no French; some also do not speak English. These students integrate the school through our adaptation program, which provides intensive instruction in French, support in English as needed, help in understanding and adjusting to French culture, and differentiated coursework and assessment during their adaptation period.

Parents Association

The Parents Association keeps our parent community vibrant and strong. It welcomes new expat and international families through its annual Welcome events and hosts key social events throughout the year. School parents also have the possibility of joining cultural clubs (Group China, Japan, Russia, etc.) that provide a window into different cultures though weekly meetups and activities.

A multicultural community

With students of 80 different nationalities representing every major culture and religious tradition, the school is a truly multicultural environment. Roughly one-third of the student body is French; one-third bi-national; and another third is non French-speaking. Many of our teachers also come from abroad and all teach in their native language. Our expat and international families quickly feel at home in our diverse community.
